Avis Location Voiture - Bouguenais

I am a long time Avis Premier member. I rented a car for a week. When we picked up the car. The agent at the desk said that there were scratches on the wheels but that the rest of the car was undamaged. He did suggest that I inspect the car and let him know if I saw any other damage. I did so. I was not shown the Avis damage maps at the time (they were emailed to me but obviously, I was driving somewhere and did not have it before I left). Upon returning I had to stand in the hot sun (90 degrees F) before an agent even came over. The agent then told me that there was a new scratch on the front left wheel. I looked and it had to be from a curb strike. I had hardly driven the car and not in any cities. I told him that I did not hit anything. Finally, with a plane to catch and to get out of the sun I agreed to sign off for 208 Euros. This included a hefty fee for the car being out of service. Based on then number of scratches on other wheels, it is obvious that they are not going to repair the "new" scratch. I contacted Avis and received an email (do not reply) simply stating that I had to pay and could get forms to submit a claim. This was all totally bogus. I have never had a bad experience like this with Avis in many years of service. Update- just had the same thing (pretty much exactly - wheel scratch) happen at Nice airport. This time we had pictures from pick up day. Had to spend time working with customer service but got the charge refunded.

Just returned a hire car last night to Nantes airport. No one there, following morning I received my return contract 176834965 with damage all over. Let’s say I’m happy I took a video of the car on pickup which is time stamped and on return so instead of trying to pull a fast one with a presidents club member I have the evidence. And what ever the picture is of 1067km who knows because I did 444km in my total trip. You should not be allowed to try this manoeuvre on people because they have basic insurance. Will not use Avis again while in France and I would suggest you reconsider before charging my card

We've rented a Toyota Yaris through an intermediary - Sunnycars - which was provided by Avis at the Airport. The whole paperwork was done in five minutes and we were on the road in a instant. Since there was no damage to the car and we went for the full insurance nonetheless the return process was also very fast - and to my surprise, the deposit amount was back on my bank account in just a few minutes. I was expecting several days at least. So overall a pleasant experience thanks to which our whole road trip to Bretagne and Normandie was perfect.

To be avoided at all costs. A Fiat 500 that was filthy dirty, covered in damage and over 50,000 kms on the clock. It was parked 400 metres from the office and the staff couldn’t care less when I complained. I cancelled the booking and the manager told me that he would ensure that I would never rent a car from Avis again. He’s right, I won’t. We hired a car (a brand new Renault Captur) from Avis at Nantes airport. We arranged the hire through Auto Europe which was pretty straightforward and gave us a better deal than going direct. The staff at Avis were very friendly and helpful, greeting us with a smile and luckily spoke good English as I cannot speak French. The service was quick and efficient both collecting and returning the car. The car itself was immaculate with only a few hundred kilometres on the clock. Unfortunately my daughter left her mobile phone in the car when we dropped it off; but as soon as the staff at Avis realised they quickly contacted me and went to great lengths to get it back to us even though we had already passed through airport security. My daughter and I are very grateful to the Avis team for their efforts. I highly recommend Avis at Nantes airport, a very professional, efficient and helpful service.

Rented from avis on 10/01/2025 and there was an issue and so they had to get another car for me. The car wasn’t quite full of petrol and so I took a photo, just in case of any dispute later on. After I returned the car, then they charge me for a refuelling fee. When I queried this and sent the photo of the gauge then they ended up refunding me.

The guy made me pay 12€ because he said 3 litres missing evenn though I filled in the tank fully just before arriving in Nantes. How did he see 3 litres missing is a mistery. The gauje was full. I am a regular customer. I found this very petty and stupid. Avis has just lost a customer.
